March 24 is American Diabetes Alert Day

Diabetes is a condition in which the body’s level of glucose (sugar) is abnormally high due to a lack of insulin or the body’s inability to use insulin efficiently.  In 2012 29.1 million Americans had diabetes! Many were undiagnosed.  Serious complications can arise from untreated diabetes, such as blindness, kidney disease, stroke, and amputation.  Talk to your health care provider about your risk of developing diabetes; and if you have it, keeping it under control.  For more information visit the American Diabetes Association!
