Cross Valley Health & Medicine recogizes the work of the practice's intern from the Fall 2023 semester.
James Thoben is a student expecting to graduate from Mount Saint Mary College with his Bachelor's in Healthcare Management in December 2023.
Thoben was exposed to shadowing different departments such as administration, clinical support, credentialing, billing, and marketing by being a part of the practice's Undergraduate Internship Program. He was able to gain hands-on experience through independently working on assigned projects that positvely impacted Cross Valley Health & Medicine.
Cross Valley Health & Medicine, an independently owned multi-specialty practice, is accepting applications for one seat in the Undergraduate Internship Program for the Spring 2024 session. Thoben said, "My time interning gave me new hands-on experiences each day that constantly improved my skillset that will end up only benefiting me in life after college."
Program Manager Mark Olsen, MBA, supervises the program. Olsen said, "I started as an intern for the practice in 2019. In 2020, I took over leading the internship program. In only three years, I had seven interns, five of whom have healthcare management-related jobs already. It is an incredible feeling to work with my students each session and see them grow."
Cross Valley Health & Medicine is a multi-specialty primary care practice in Newburgh NY. Appointments are offered both virtually and in person. The practice has two medical providers on staff, Doctor Paul Saladino, dual board-certified in Addiction Medicine and Internal Medicine, and Christian Plaza, PMHNP, FNP-C.
Both practitioners are eager to see new patients for the following programs: Substance Abuse Treatment, LGBTQ+ Care, Behavioral Health Management, HIV/AIDS Care Management, Primary Care, Medical Marijuana Certifications, Medication-Assisted Treatment, STD/STI Care Management, and Weight Loss Management.
